Role Summary:The purpose of the CNC Programmer position is to provide programming and tooling expertise for all product lines at BCO.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as the CNC Programmer, you will:

+ Establish CNC programs, processes and planning, from up-front concurrent engineering to delivery of the finished product to the customer

+ Maintain, trouble shoot, and improve systems relative to the CNC function including DNC and the post processor, CAD design, 3D Modeling, Fixture and tooling

+ Establish and document systems and operating standards to allow for integration of CNC requirements

+ Drive continuous improvement using problem-solving tools / skills

+ Review & approve NPI models for manufacturability

+ Interface with and support both internal and external:

+ Process Engineering

+ Design Engineering

+ Maintenance

+ Technical support

+ Quality

+ and Operations

+ Interface with machine tool suppliers on tooling lead times and delivery and to glean best practices

+ Lead cost reduction programs through program optimization, Lean Manufacturing and new technology

+ Technical problem solving and inspection for both formed and machined components and tooling

+ Complete review & approval of externally designed machining fixtures

+ Specify cutting tools required and design special cutting tools as required

+ Perform analysis where required on thinning

+ Track and stock tools for production machines

+ Track tool life counters on CNC equipment, change needed tooling


+ Higher Education Degree in a Technical Discipline from an accredited university or college

+ Five years of experience in manufacturing processes {Including Previous CNC Programming experience (Strong Unigraphics); Experience with CAD / CAM (Strong Unigraphics)}


+ Ability and willingness to work extended hours

+ Ability and willingness to work off shifts as the needs of the business dictates

+ Excellent attendance and punctuality history

Desired Characteristics:

+ Demonstrated knowledge of aerospace specifications and requirements

+ Functional knowledge of SPC and Six Sigma quality

+ Effective in persuasive written and verbal communication

+ When challenged by problems - provides effective solutions

+ Hands on experience in operating both manual and CNC machine tools

+ Tool design experience

+ Familiar with Lean Manufacturing Techniques

+ Familiarity with inspecting things that are large, cylindrical / conical, with many repetitive features, and 3D contours

+ Demonstrated ability to listen to and motivate others

+ Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ Strong facilitation skills

+ Previous MS Office Suite experience (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

+ Desire to learn and apply time-saving programming techniques / concepts as opportunities present

+ Strong background in composites

+ Strives to exceed job requirements

+ Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently

+ Makes decisions based on experience and available data

+ Accepts and gives constructive criticism

+ Continuously improves skills
